Recently the General Office of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) announced the list of the fourth CAST Young Talents Project (2018-2020). MVE Associate Professor Wei Kai was included. It was said that a total of 285 young scientific talents made the list after expert recommendation, selection, and candidate announcement.
Wei Kai, associate professor of the College of Mechanical and Vehicle Engineering, graduated from Peking University with doctoral degree in solid mechanics in 2015. Wei worked at Hunan University the same year. He published more than 20 papers about solid mechanics and composite materials on prestigious journals such as JMPS and IJSS, one of which was selected as ESI highly cited paper. Prof. Wei was invited to lecture at many related academic conferences. He is a member of the Vehicle Engineering Composite Materials Committee and the Youth Working Committee of the China Society for Composite Materials.
His research focuses on multifunction design methodology, high-efficiency preparation process, and performance characterization of lightweight composite materials for vehicles. It was supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Hunan Natural Science Foundation, Open Fund of State Key Laboratory of Structural Analysis for Industrial Engineering, and Hunan University Young Teacher Foundation.
